What You Need to Give Your Builder Before They Can Give You an Accurate Quote

What You Need to Give Your Builder Before They Can Give You an Accurate Quote

If you want a builder to give you a proper renovation figure, you need more than just inspiration photos. A rough ballpark can be done early, but the more details you have ready, the more useful the number will be.

For an early estimate, builders usually need:

  • rough drawings.

  • square metre measurements.

  • the areas being renovated.

  • a general idea of the layout.

  • indicative finishes.

If you want a more accurate final quote, they will need:

  • to-scale plans.

  • detailed drawings.

  • your chosen finishes and fixtures.

  • a clear scope of works.

That last part is the big one. If the scope is unclear, the quote will be too.

A good rule of thumb is to get your project quote-ready before you start chasing numbers. That way, you are not comparing guesses, and you are less likely to get caught out by budget surprises later.

That's exactly why I created The Renovation Companion System. It gives you the process Interior Designers have been using for years in an easy to follow checklist.
